When you create an account, we store your username, email address, and a securely hashed version of your password — we never store your password in plain text. If you mark movies as watched, we store which movies (title, poster, and genres) and when.
Your email is used only to send an account verification link when you register, and for password-related account actions. Your watched history powers your personal dashboard, including your total watched count and genre breakdown. We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for advertising purposes.
Not Movies uses TMDB for movie posters, synopses, cast information, and trailers. Movie rating data is sourced from the MovieLens research dataset. Verification emails are sent through a third-party transactional email provider. None of these services receive your password.
We use a session cookie to keep you logged in after you sign in. This cookie is required for account features (dashboard, watched tracking) to work, and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.
You can remove any movie from your watched history at any time from your dashboard. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted entirely, contact us using the information below.
This policy may be updated as Not Movies changes. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
